9th Life Cat Café BFA senior exhibition

The 9th Life Cat Café is a fictional cat-themed café based in Queens, New York that I created for my senior BFA exhibition. The pieces take on a variety of forms, such as an app prototype, digital social media ads, adoption posters, and illustrations printed and mounted onto foam core. I have a limited color palette to help bring these different types of works together. All works were made using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as Figma and Procreate.

These are some images taken in the gallery before the reception of the senior BFA exhibition. I have decorated the space around my work with vinyl titles and icons that come from my designs.

I enjoyed creating the layouts for the menu, ads, and adoption posters. I think the icons and colors help tie everything together cohesively. The icons for the cat room rules were fun to make, and I enjoyed making the layout similar to my menu design. I liked playing with the typography in the Instagram ads and using organic, fun shapes. I brought the same shapes and icons into the cat adoption posters as well to help tie everything together.

Each of the illustrations are 24 in x 36 in and were printed and mounted onto foam-core. I enjoyed branding the imaginary space with icons and specific colors to make everything feel realistic and fun. I spent about 20-30 hours on each illustration and I enjoyed each step of the process. I loved creating textures, such as fur or brick or wood. Using blend modes also helped bring each piece to life and bring out my style more.
